A roughly 100-foot waterfall at the top of a glacially carved hanging valley above Sitka, reached via the Herring Cove Trail off Sawmill Creek Road. The trail climbs a steep hillside before leveling into old-growth forest below the falls.

Its 100 ft drop is taller than about 74% of the 775 waterfalls we track.

Its water comes from Sawmill Creek. It lies in Sitka, Alaska. The site is on public land managed by Tongass National Forest (USFS).

This is a moderate hike waterfall: a longer day hike, roughly one to several miles each way. Reaching it takes a moderate walk, so budget time and pack water before you set out. The walk to the main viewpoint runs about 3.7 miles round trip. The nearest town is Sitka.

When to go: Summer (Jun-Sep). Water volume swings with the seasons here, strongest after snowmelt or rain and lowest in late summer, so check recent streamflow before you go.
