Rainbow Falls is a tall cascade (commonly cited at around 100-150 feet) plunging over a granite cliff in Jones Gap State Park's Mountain Bridge Wilderness. The strenuous route climbs roughly 1,200 feet over rocky staircases via the Jones Gap and Rainbow Falls Trails.
Its 100 ft drop is taller than about 74% of the 775 waterfalls we track.
Rainbow Falls sits on Cox Camp Creek. It lies in Greenville, South Carolina. The site is on public land managed by Jones Gap State Park / Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area.
This is a moderate hike waterfall: a longer day hike, roughly one to several miles each way. Reaching it takes a moderate walk, so budget time and pack water before you set out. The walk to the main viewpoint runs about 4.4 miles round trip. The nearest town is Marietta.
When to go: Spring (Mar-May). Water volume swings with the seasons here, strongest after snowmelt or rain and lowest in late summer, so check recent streamflow before you go.
