Provo River Falls is a series of three waterfalls and several cascades where the Provo River drops in the high Uinta Mountains, just off the Mirror Lake Highway (UT-150) about 24 miles east of Kamas. A short walk from the large signed parking area reaches the overlooks; a recreation pass is required and the highway closes in winter.
Its water comes from Provo River. It lies in Wasatch, Utah. The site is on public land managed by Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest (USFS).
This is a roadside waterfall: visible from a road, parking area, or a walk of a few hundred feet. Little to no walking is required, so it suits a quick roadside pull-off rather than a dedicated hike. The walk to the main viewpoint runs about 0.2 miles round trip. The nearest town is Kamas.
When to go: Summer to early fall (late May-Oct, when Mirror Lake Highway is open). Water volume swings with the seasons here, strongest after snowmelt or rain and lowest in late summer, so check recent streamflow before you go.
