Hemlock Falls is a smaller cascade waterfall in New Jersey, with a drop of about 25 ft.
Its water comes from West Branch Rahway River. You'll find it in Essex, New Jersey. It is protected within Essex County Parks / South Mountain Conservancy (South Mountain Reservation).
This is a short hike waterfall: reached by a short trail, generally under about a mile each way. The walk to the main viewpoint runs about 1.6 miles round trip. Base a visit out of Millburn, the closest town.
When to go: Spring and after rain. Like most waterfalls, Hemlock Falls runs highest after snowmelt or heavy rain and can thin out in late summer, so it's worth checking recent streamflow and the land manager's conditions page before a long drive.
