Uluwehi Falls, popularly called Secret Falls, is a roughly 100-120 foot cascade in the Wailua River valley on Kauaʻi. It is reached by paddling up the Wailua River, Hawaiʻi's only navigable river, then hiking about a mile each way through often-muddy rainforest.
Its 120 ft drop is taller than about 78% of the 775 waterfalls we track.
The falls are fed by Wailua River. It lies in Kauai, Hawaii. The site is on public land managed by Hawaii DLNR Division of State Parks.
This is a moderate hike waterfall: a longer day hike, roughly one to several miles each way. Reaching it takes a moderate walk, so budget time and pack water before you set out. The walk to the main viewpoint runs about 2 miles round trip. The nearest town is Wailua.
When to go: year-round. Flow usually peaks after snowmelt and heavy rain and tapers through late summer — a quick look at recent streamflow and the managing agency's conditions page can save a wasted trip.
