Also called Lower Falls, this roughly 50-60 foot cascade on the Yellowstone Prong is the most accessible waterfall in the Graveyard Fields area of Pisgah National Forest, off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 418.8. A short spur off the loop trail reaches its base.
At 60 ft, it stands above roughly 48% of the 775 documented falls in this guide.
Second Falls sits on Yellowstone Prong (East Fork Pigeon River). You'll find it in Haywood, North Carolina. It is protected within Pisgah National Forest (USFS).
This is a short hike waterfall: reached by a short trail, generally under about a mile each way. A short walk gets you to the viewpoint, so it works for most casual visitors and families. The walk to the main viewpoint runs about 1.5 miles round trip. Base a visit out of Canton, the closest town.
When to go: fall. Expect the strongest flow in spring and after big storms, with a quieter trickle by late summer; confirm current conditions with the land manager before committing to the drive.
