Continental Falls is the largest waterfall near Breckenridge, a long series of cascades dropping roughly 300 feet along Spruce Creek as it tumbles past Lower Mohawk Lake. It is reached via the Spruce Creek / Mohawk Lakes trail, a high-altitude hike starting around 11,000 feet with over 1,000 feet of gain to the base.
At 300 ft, it stands above roughly 93% of the 775 documented falls in this guide.
The falls are fed by Spruce Creek. You'll find it in Summit, Colorado. It is protected within White River National Forest (USFS).
This is a moderate hike waterfall: a longer day hike, roughly one to several miles each way. Plan for a moderate hike; sturdy shoes, water, and a little time on the trail are worth bringing. The walk to the main viewpoint runs about 5 miles round trip. Base a visit out of Breckenridge, the closest town.
When to go: Summer (Jul-Sep). Expect the strongest flow in spring and after big storms, with a quieter trickle by late summer; confirm current conditions with the land manager before committing to the drive.
