Elk Creek Falls is a series of three drops (upper, middle, and lower) totaling over 140 feet in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests near Elk River; the middle falls is cited as one of the tallest in north-central Idaho. A loop trail with spur paths leads to viewpoints of each tier.

Its water comes from Elk Creek. It lies in Clearwater, Idaho. The site is on public land managed by Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests (USFS).

This is a moderate hike waterfall: a longer day hike, roughly one to several miles each way. Reaching it takes a moderate walk, so budget time and pack water before you set out. The walk to the main viewpoint runs about 2.9 miles round trip. The nearest town is Elk River.

When to go: late spring to early summer. Flow usually peaks after snowmelt and heavy rain and tapers through late summer — a quick look at recent streamflow and the managing agency's conditions page can save a wasted trip.
